Beasiswa S1, S2, S3 Untuk Indonesia
20 Apr
The Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics, University of Oslo, Norwegia menawarkan beasiswa S3 bidang Astrophysics (Cosmology).
POSITION AS PH.D. FELLOWSHIP IN ASTROPHYSICS (COSMOLOGY) is available at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics of the University of Oslo. The position is at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The faculty of the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics presently consists of 12 permanent professors/associate professors. The Institute employs about 10 postdoctoral research fellows and has about 12 Ph.D. students. The research activity of the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics is concentrated around solar physics, plasma physics and cosmology.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has appointed the cosmology group of the Institute as an emerging top-tier research group. The participation in the European Space Agency’s flagship mission Planck and the ground based CMB polarization experiment QUIET, and a strong effort in fundamental cosmological theory, act as two foci for consolidating the group and developing it further to become one of Norway`s internationally most visible research groups in the physical sciences.
The successful applicant is expected to carry out research on problems related to dark energy, modified gravity and inflation. In particular, the aim is to test and gain insights on fundamental high energy physics models using cosmological data from CMB, galaxy clusters, lensing, etc. Therefore programming experience will be given weight. The results from these analyses will give important contributions to our understanding of how the Universe began and what most of the energy density of the Universe is made of.
The purpose of the fellowship is research training, leading to the successful completion of a doctoral degree. The fellowship requires admission to the research-training programme at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Firstly, applicants must have obtained undergraduate (bachelor, i.e., B.Sc. level) and postgraduate (M.Sc. level) qualifications within astronomy/astrophysics or a related field. Together this should represent at least four years of full time study after the completion of European Upper Secondary School / International Baccalaureate. For more information, see :
http://www.matnat.uio.no/english/research/education/phd_programme_presentation.html
Appointment to a research fellowship is conditional upon admission to the research-training programme. An approved plan for the research training must be submitted no later than one month after taking up the position, and admission approved within the duration of the probationary period of six months.

The University wishes to achieve a more equal distribution of scientific employees between the sexes. Female applicants are encouraged to apply.
The applications should include curriculum vitae and give complete information about the applicant’s education, experience (including programming experience) and possible publications. Certified copies of grades, transcripts and supporting credentials as well as copies of publications should be attached. The applicant cannot expect the evaluation to take into account material not attached to the application
For further information, please contact Dr. David F. Mota, email: d.f.mota@astro.uio.no.
The fellowship is available for four years from 1 September 2009 (earlier start may be possible).
Pay grade: 45 – 51 (NOK 353,200 – 391,700)
The closing date is: 30th June, 2009
REF. NO. 09/5285
The fellow has teaching obligations (leading problem sessions etc.) or other institute obligations equivalent to 25%. The teaching and supervision duties must be done in Norwegian, and the fellowship period can be reduced to 3 years if the candidate is unable to meet the language requirements for the compulsory service.
Applications (in Scandinavian or English), including a curriculum vitae and complete information about the applicant’s education (grades), job experience, programming experience etc., should be sent to: Senior executive officer Gro Corell, The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo, P.O. Box 1032 Blindern, N-0316 Oslo. Please mark the application with Ref.no. 09/5285.
The application may also be submitted by e-mail to:
apply-to@matnat.uio.no
Subject: Application – 2009/5285 for the application to be processed properly it must be complete.
Application papers will not be returned.
