De Montfort University PhD Studentships 2009 in Technology
Up to seven fully funded sponsored PhD studentships are available to candidates. Each of the studentships is available for three years full-time study and provides a bursary of £13,290. Candidates should hold a good first degree (First Class, Upper-Second Class or equivalent) in a relevant subject area.
Building on DMU’s excellent RAE outcomes, bursaries will be awarded to exceptional students who will work alongside experienced research teams in the following areas:
Technology:
- Printable systems for electronic devices including biological sensors
- Intelligent sensor networks for assisted living
- Ethical implications of ICT in personal health monitoring
Applications are welcome from citizens from the EU and those with overseas status.

EPSRC sponsored PhD Studentship
One fully funded EPSRC sponsored PhD studentship is available to suitably qualified UK students. The studentship is available for three years full-time study and provides a bursary of £15,000 per annum. Candidates should hold a good first degree (First Class, Upper Second or equivalent) in a relevant subject area.
We would welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates to study in the following areas:
Real time web-based presentation of energy consumption for SMEs
The effects of open shop-fronts on carbon emissions and customer perceptions
The refurbishment of buildings to carbon neutral standards
Fabrication of Electronic Devices on Flexible Substrates
Evolutionary Computing for Data Mining
Visual Management Infrastructure Design for Sustaining Lean Improvements within the NHS
For successful applicants who are a citizen of the EU but not resident in the UK, the studentship covers tuition fees ONLY. Applications from outside the EU are NOT eligible for funding under DTA EPSRC rules.
